Why Lena Waithe is the Perfect Shero
Hey Girltalk Nation! Did you catch the 2017 Emmys? Pretty sure a bunch of people who watched it got a new Shero. Lena Waithe, she is #GOALS. She's a Writer, Actress, and Producer the whole 9 yards.
You know her as Denise on the Netflix series Master of None. At the 69th Emmy Awards she became the first Black woman to be nominated and win an Emmy for Outstanding Writer in a Comedy Series along with her TV best friend Aziz Ansari! Did you see the word "first"? That's going down in history! Not only did she show up to the Emmy's suited and booted in her @albalegacy suit, her speech was beyond encouraging when she thanked her LGBTQIA family, "I see each and every one of you the things that make us different, those are our superpowers. Every day when you walk out the door, put on your imaginary cape and go out there and conquer the world, because the world would not be as beautiful as it is if we weren't in it. And for everybody out there that showed us so much love for this episode, thank you for embracing a little Indian boy from South Carolina and a queer black girl from the South Side of Chicago." Not only did Lena get the standing ovation she deserved, she was humbled crediting God and Her mother first.
If you are peeking, don't get your hopes up! She's been off the market for 3 years. She and her girlfriend Alana are another set of #GOALS.
So this Shero is living her dreams, loving life, in love, making history and living her true self that's why she is the perfect Shero! Be yourself no matter what they say!
